Our Activities

Battle of the Books

The Battle of the Books Club consists of 4th and 5th-grade students who are responsible for reading a pre-selected number of novels. In the spring of each year, the team competes against other elementary schools. Battle of the Books is a very rigorous program. Students are expected to thoroughly know each novel as they are asked very specific questions. The team is coached by the media coodinator Danielle Strickland.

Orchestra

The orchestra program at Ferguson-Easley begins with stringed instruments in the Fifth grade.  Students choose from violin, viola, cello, and bass instruments. Small group lessons are given during the school day. These lessons reinforce the fundamentals of music and demonstrates the teamwork involved in music making.

Safety Patrol

Any student in 4th or 5th grade that is responsible and in good academic standing is a candidate for safety patrol.  The student must exhibit good behavior choices to be recommended by his or her homeroom teacher. Safety patrol students monitor the hallways each morning to ensure that students are walking in a quiet and orderly manner.

Spelling Bee

Spelling is fundamental and an intricate part of every aspect of life. All students at Ferguson-Easley are given daily opportunities to develop their skills in spelling. The Spelling Bee competition sponsored by Scripps is an annual event at our school. The process begins with 4th and 5th grade students participating in their classroom spelling bee. The top two winners from each class earns the opportunity to participate in the school wide bee on December 10, 2025. The winner of the school’s bee continues on and represents Ferguson-Easley in the district bee.
