Application Instructions- Licensed Positions

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS- LICENSED POSITIONS

Follow the instructions below for your category of Licensed Teacher:

  1. NC Licensed Teacher (Current/Continuing License)
  2. NC Licensed Teacher (Initial- Standard Professional I)
  3. NC Licensed Teacher (Lateral Entry or Alternative Program/Licensure)
  4. NC Licensed Teacher (Expired License or Retiree)
  5. Out of State Licensed Teacher / Not NC Licensed Yet
  6. Out of State Licensed Teacher / Has Applied to NC Teaching License
  7. International Educator / Not Part of Any International Faculty Programs
  8. Recent Graduates in Educational Program / Completed Student Teaching

Failure to upload the necessary documentation listed below can/will delay the hiring process.


  1. NC Licensed Teacher (Current/Continuing or Standard Professional II)
  • Contact the School or Department and ensure the job is still available.
  • Complete the NC TeacherMatch application, or update an existing profile and apply.
  • Application applied to the Open Recruitment folder, found under “Human Resources” in the NC TeacherMatch For current job offers, follow the instructions given to you by the hiring school Bookkeeper.
  • Upload into your application the following documents (No MS Word or URL Link) even if previously employed.
  • Copy of valid NC Teaching License (actual 8 x 10 certificate, no URL Link)
  • Legible copy of official “degree dated” Transcripts (include all pages of degree and Master’s if applicable)
  • CCS Background form– Upload a completed form with an Email address, signature/date.
  • Make contact with schools you wish to be hired; let them know you’re seeking employment.

  1. NC Licensed Teacher (Initial or Standard Professional I)
  • Contact the School or Department and ensure the job is still available.
  • Complete the NC TeacherMatch application, or update an existing profile and apply.
  • Application applied to the Open Recruitment folder located under “Human Resources in the NC TeacherMatch For current job offers, follow the instructions given to you by the hiring school Bookkeeper.
  • Upload into your application the following documents (no MS Word or URL Link) even if previously employed.
  • Copy of valid NC Teaching License (actual 8 x 10 certificate, no URL Link)
  • Copy of your Licensure Requirements Letter- this letter would have been sent to you in a separate email by DPI around the same time you were awarded your NC License. The letter details all that is required to clear your Initial License with NC. If you cannot locate this letter please contact NC Department of Public Instruction (NC DPI) Licensure at 1-800-577-7994
  • Copy of official “degree dated” transcripts (include all pages of degree with border).
  • Copy of all NC Licensure testing taken so far (pass/fail).
  • CCS Background form– Upload a completed form with an Email address, signature/date.
  • HR will email for any additional paperwork needed for hire. The email is through the NC TeacherMatch application system. Some emails are sent to SPAM folders- check frequently.
  • Make contact with schools you wish to be hired; let them know you’re seeking employment.

  1. NC Licensed Teacher (Lateral Entry or Alternative Program/Licensure)
  • Contact the School or Department and ensure the job is still available.
  • Complete the NC TeacherMatch application, or update an existing profile and apply.
  • Application applied to Open Recruitment- licensed Teacher folder, found under “Human Resources” in the NC TeacherMatch
  • Upload into your application the following documents (no MS Word or URL Link), even if previously employed.
  • Copy of Provisional Lateral Entry Teaching License (actual 8×10 certificate, no URL Link)
  • Copy of official “degree dated” transcripts (include all pages of degree with border).
  • Copy of all NC Licensure testing taken so far (pass/fail).
  • Copy of either Plan of Study or College Licensure Program documents (showing what is required), proof of completed program or progress towards completion: coursework (transcripts), and testing (Score Sheets-all pages).
  • CCS Background form-completed with an Email address, signature/date, uploaded into the “Additional Documents” area of the application.
  • HR will email for any additional paperwork needed for hire. The email is through the NC TeacherMatch application system. Some emails are sent to SPAM folders- check frequently.
  • Once all documentation has been received and processed you will receive an email through the application approving your application for hire. Check SPAM Folder.
  • Make contact with schools you wish to be hired; let them know you’re seeking employment.

  1. NC Licensed Teacher (Expired License or Retiree)
  • Contact the School or Department and ensure the job is still available.
  • Complete the NC TeacherMatch application, or update an existing profile and apply.
  • Application applied to the Open Recruitment folder, found under “Human Resources” in the NC TeacherMatch If you have a current job offer, follow the instructions given to you by the hiring school Bookkeeper.
  • Upload into your application the following documents (no MS Word or URL Link)
  • Copy of NC expired Teaching License (actual 8×10 certificate)
  • Copy of official “degree dated” transcripts (include all pages of degree and Master’s if applicable). If your expired NC License is Initial or Standard Professional I, also provide your Licensure Requirements Letter sent by NCDPI via email. Contact NCDPI Licensure Department for replacement.
  • CCS Background form-completed with an Email address, signature/date, uploaded into the “Additional Documents” area of the application.
  • For Retired CCS Educators– transcripts, testing, and other documents may be in our archives. Let us know you’re retired with CCS so we can ensure all required paperwork is on file.
  • Retiree/Not with CCS – provide an official transcript (or at least a legible copy of an official transcript.
  • HR will email for any additional paperwork needed for hire. The email is through the NC TeacherMatch application system. Some emails are sent to SPAM folders- check frequently.
  • Make contact with schools you wish to be hired; let them know you’re seeking employment.

  1. Out of State Licensed Teacher / Not NC Licensed Yet
  • Contact the School or Department and ensure the job is still available.
  • Complete the NC TeacherMatch application, or update an existing profile and apply.
  • Application applied to the Open Recruitment folder, found under “Human Resources” in the NC TeacherMatch For current job offers, follow the instructions given to you by the hiring school Bookkeeper.
  • Upload into your application the following documents (no MS Word or URL Link), even if previously employed.
  • Upload a legible copy of Out of State Teaching License certificate
  • Upload a legible copy of all state testing – testing took to become licensed in your state.
  • Upload a legible copy of official “degree dated” transcripts (include all pages of degree and Master’s if applicable)
  • CCS Background form-completed with an Email address, signature/date, uploaded into the “Additional Documents” area of the application.
  • HR will email for any additional paperwork needed for hire. The email is through the NC Teacher Match application system. Some emails are sent to SPAM folders- check frequently.
  • *If you completed the alternate route to licensure we will need proof of how you completed the program. Upload this into “Additional Documents”. 
  • Make contact with schools you wish to be hired; let them know you’re seeking employment.

  1. Out of State Licensed Teacher / Has Applied to NC Teaching License
  • Contact the School or Department and ensure the job is still available.
  • Complete the NC TeacherMatch application, or update an existing profile and apply.
  • Application applied to the Open Recruitment folder, found under “Human Resources” in the NC TeacherMatch. For a current job offer, follow the instructions given to you by the hiring school Bookkeeper.
  • Upload into your application the following documents (no MS Word or URL Links), even if previously employed.
  • Copy of Out of State Teaching License
  • Proof you have applied to NC Teaching License: a screenshot of the DPI application at the status of: “DPI-Pending Review”.
  • Copy of official “degree dated” transcripts (include all pages of degree and Master’s if applicable)
  • CCS Background form-completed with an Email address, signature/date, uploaded into the “Additional Documents” area of the application.
  • HR may contact you if any additional paperwork is needed for hire. The email is through the application system (the email connected to your application). Some emails are sent to SPAM folders- check frequently.
  • Make contact with schools you wish to be hired; let them know you’re seeking employment.

  1. International Educator / Not Part of Any International Faculty Programs
  • Contact the School or Department and ensure the job is still available.
  • Complete the NC TeacherMatch application, or update an existing profile and apply.
  • Application applied to the Open Recruitment folder, found under “Human Resources” in the NC TeacherMatch For current job offers, follow the instructions given to you by the hiring school Bookkeeper.
  • Upload into your application the following documents (no MS Word or URL Links), even if previously employed.
  • Copy of International Teaching License and testing completed.
  • Upload copy of “degree dated” transcripts and complete set of Evaluated Course by Course Transcripts to U.S. Standard (from a reputable company in transcript format)
  • Proof you are able to work in the U.S.-DS 2019 Authorization paperwork, front/back copy of valid Permanent Resident Card, and Social Security Card.
  • CCS Background form-completed with an Email address, signature/date, uploaded into the “Additional Documents” area of the application.
  • HR will email for any additional paperwork needed for hire. The email is through the NC TeacherMatch application system. Some emails are sent to SPAM folders- check frequently.
  • Make contact with schools you wish to be hired; let them know you’re seeking employment.

  1. Recent Graduates in Educational Program / Completed Student Teaching
  • Contact the School or Department and ensure the job is still available.
  • Complete the NC TeacherMatch, or update an existing profile and apply.
  • Application applied to the Open Recruitment folder, found under “Human Resources” in the NC TeacherMatch For current job offers, follow the instructions given to you by the hiring school Bookkeeper.
  • Upload into your application the following documents even if previously employed.

     Choose one of the following 3 options that best describes your current status:

Note: Proof you applied to the NC Teaching License refers to a screenshot of the license application sitting at a status of “DPI- Pending Review”. Email screenshot to: [email protected]

  1. In addition to the chart above please upload:
  • Resume
  • Copy of all testing you may have already taken as part of the college program; include all attempts pass or fail.
  • CCS Background form: Completed and uploaded into Additional Documents.
  • Copy of Licensure Requirements Letter- This would be sent to your email account with

NCDPI at the time your license is issued; send in a separate email.

Contact Licensure at NC DPI: 1-800-577-7994, to have it replaced. 

Notice: When vacancies occur, interviews may be scheduled with selected applicants holding proper licensure, provided all the required information has been received. Your completed application will be retained in active status for 2 years.  

Final employment is contingent upon approval by the Cumberland County Board of Education.
