The following information is for applying to Licensed Teaching Positions / Non-Advertised:

Follow the instructions below for your category of Licensed Teacher:

  1. NC Licensed Teacher (Current/Continuing License)
  2. NC Licensed Teacher (Initial- Standard Professional I)
  3. NC Licensed Teacher (Lateral Entry or Alternative Program/Licensure)
  4. NC Licensed Teacher (Expired License or Retiree)
  5. Out of State Licensed Teacher / Not NC Licensed Yet
  6. Out of State Licensed Teacher / Has Applied to NC Teaching License
  7. International Educator / Not Part of Any International Faculty Programs
  8. Recent Graduates in Educational Program / Completed Student Teaching


Failure to produce the necessary documentation listed below can/will delay the hiring process.

  1. NC Licensed Teacher (Current/Continuing or Standard Professional II)
  • Completed Application in the Department of Public Instruction online application, NC Teacher Match.
  • Application applied to at least one available job on NC Teacher Match.
  • Copy of valid NC Teaching License
  • Official Degree Dated Transcripts (include all pages of degree and Master’s if applicable)
  • CCS Background form– complete with an Email address, signature, and date.
  • If you are able to scan on a document scanner (no pictures or MS Word Format) you can upload your required documents into an email to cynthiaringler@ccs.k12.nc.us; otherwise, you can bring them into HR front desk and we will make a copy.
  • If any additional paperwork is needed we will email you through the application system (the email you created your application account with). Some emails are sent to SPAM folders- check frequently.
  • Once all documentation has been received and processed you will receive an email through the application approving your application for hire. Check SPAM Folder.
  • Make contact with schools you wish to be hired at; drop off resume’ at schools.

  1. NC Licensed Teacher (Initial or Standard Professional I)
  • Complete Application in the Department of Public Instruction online application, NC Teacher Match.
  • Application applied to at least one available job on NC Teacher Match.
  • Copy of NC Teaching License
  • A copy of your Licensure Requirements Letter this letter would have been sent to you in a separate email by DPI around the same time you were awarded your NC License. The letter details all that is required to clear your Initial License with NC. If you cannot locate this letter please contact NC Department of Public Instruction (NC DPI) Licensure at 1.800.577.7994
  • Official Degree Dated Transcripts (include all pages of degree and Master’s if applicable)
  • Copy of all NC Licensure testing taken so far (pass/fail).
  • If you are able to scan on a document scanner (no pictures or MS Word Format) you can upload into an email to cynthiaringler@ccs.k12.nc.us; otherwise, you can bring them into HR front desk and we will make a copy.
  • If any additional paperwork is needed we will email you through the application system (the email you created your application account with). Some emails are sent to SPAM folders- check frequently.
  • Once all documentation has been received and processed you will receive an email through the application approving your application for hire. Check the SPAM folder.
  • Make contact with schools you wish to be hired at; drop off resume’ at schools.

  1. NC Licensed Teacher (Lateral Entry or Alternative Program/Licensure)
  • Completed Application in the Department of Public Instruction online application, NC Teacher Match.
  • Application applied to at least one available Certified/Licensed job on NC Teacher Match
  • Copy of NC Teaching License
  • Official Degree Dated Bachelor Transcripts (include all pages of degree).
  • If following RALC: RALC Approval Letter, Plan of Study (showing what is required), proof of completed program or progress towards completion: coursework (transcripts), and testing (Score Sheets-all pages).
  • If following College Licensure Program: show proof of completed program requirements or progress you’ve made towards completing the requirement: coursework transcripts or all pages of testing score sheets.
  • CCS Background form-completed with an Email address, signature, and date.
  • If you are able to scan on a document scanner (no pictures or MS Word Format) you can upload into an email to cynthiaringler@ccs.k12.nc.us; otherwise, you can bring them into HR front desk and we will make a copy.
  • If any additional paperwork is needed we will email you through the application system (the email you created your application account with). Some emails are sent to SPAM folders- check frequently.
  • Once all documentation has been received and processed you will receive an email through the application approving your application for hire. Check SPAM Folder.
  • Make contact with schools you wish to be hired at; drop off resume’ at schools.

  1. NC Licensed Teacher (Expired License or Retiree)
  • Completed Application in the Department of Public Instruction online application, NC Teacher Match.
  • Application applied to at least one available job on NC Teacher Match.
  • Copy of NC expired Teaching License.
  • Expired License-Official Degree Dated Transcripts (include all pages of degree and Master’s if applicable). If your expired NC License is Initial or Standard Professional  I, also provide your Licensure Requirements Letter sent by NC DPI via email. Contact NC DPI LIcensure Department for replacement.
  • CCS Retiree– the transcripts, testing, and other documents may be in our archives. Let us know you retired with CCS so we can ensure all required paperwork is on file.
  • Retiree/Not with CCS – provide an official transcript (or at least a legible copy of an official transcript.
  • CCS Background form-completed with an Email address, signature, and date.
  • If you are able to scan on a document scanner (no pictures or MS Word Format) you can upload into an email to cynthiaringler@ccs.k12.nc.us; otherwise, you can bring them into HR front desk and we will make a copy.
  • If any additional paperwork is needed we will email you through the application system (the email you created your application account with). Some emails are sent to SPAM folders- check frequently.
  • Once all documentation has been received and processed you will receive an email through the application approving your application for hire. Check SPAM Folder.
  • Make contact with schools you wish to be hired at; drop off resume’ at schools.

  1. Out of State Licensed Teacher / Not NC Licensed Yet
  • Completed Application in the Department of Public Instruction online application, NC Teacher Match.
  • Application applied to at least one available job on NC Teacher Match
  • Copy of Out of State Teaching License
  • Copy of all state testing – testing taken to become licensed in your state.
  • Official Degree Dated Transcripts (include all pages of degree and Master’s if applicable)
  • CCS Background form-completed with an Email address, signature, and date.
  • If you are able to scan on a document scanner (no pictures or MS Word Format) you can upload into an email to cynthiaringler@ccs.k12.nc.us; otherwise, you can bring them into HR front desk and we will make a copy.
  • If any additional paperwork is needed we will email you through the application system (the email you created your application account with). Some emails are sent to SPAM folders- check frequently.
  • *If you completed the alternate route to licensure we will need proof of how you completed the program.
  • Once all documentation has been received and processed you will receive an email through the application approving your application for hire. Check the SPAM folder.
  • Make contact with schools you wish to be hired at; drop off resume’ at schools.

  1. Out of State Licensed Teacher / Has Applied to NC Teaching License
  • Completed Application in the Department of Public Instruction online application, NC Teacher Match.
  • Application applied to at least one available job on NC Teacher Match
  • Copy of Out of State Teaching License
  • Proof you have applied to NC Teaching License: screenshot of the DPI application at the status of: “DPI-Pending Review”.
  • Official Degree Dated Transcripts (include all pages of degree and Master’s if applicable)
  • CCS Background form
  • If you are able to scan on a document scanner (no pictures or MS Word Format) you can upload into an email to cynthiaringler@ccs.k12.nc.us; otherwise, you can bring them into HR front desk and we will make a copy.
  • If any additional paperwork is needed we will email you through the application system (the email you created your application account with). Some emails are sent to SPAM folders- check frequently.
  • Once all documentation has been received and processed you will receive an email through the application approving your application for hire.
  • Make contact with schools you wish to be hired at; drop off resume’ at schools.

  1. International Educator / Not Part of Any International Faculty Programs
  • Completed Application in the Department of Public Instruction online application, NC Teacher Match.
  • Application applied to at least one Certified/Licensed position on NC Teacher Match
  • Copy of International Teaching License and testing completed.
  • Official Degree Dated Transcripts and a complete set of Evaluated Course by Course Transcripts to U.S. Standard (from a reputable company in transcript format)
  • Proof you are able to work in the U.S.-DS 2019 Authorization paperwork, Social Security Card, and front/back copy of your Residency Card or Work Visa.
  • CCS Background form-complete with an Email address, signature, and date.
  • If you are able to scan on a document scanner (no pictures or MS Word Format) you can upload into an email to cynthiaringler@ccs.k12.nc.us; otherwise, you can bring them into HR front desk and we will make a copy.
  • If any additional paperwork is needed we will email you through the application system (the email you created your application account with). Some emails are sent to SPAM folders- check frequently.
  • Once all documentation has been received and processed you will receive an email through the application approving your application for hire.
  • Make contact with schools you wish to be hired at; drop off resume’ at the school.

  1. Recent Graduates in Educational Program / Completed Student Teaching
  • Completed Application in the Department of Public Instruction online application, NC Teacher Match.
  • Application applied to at least one Certified/Licensed position on NC Teacher Match.
  • Official Degree Dated Transcripts (include all pages of degree and Master’s if applicable). Please ensure the transcript clearly shows degree awarded, official GPA, and Major.
  • If you are waiting for your transcripts to be degree dated you can submit an unofficial copy until they are ready.
  • Copy of any state licensure testing taken so far (pass/fail). Some colleges now require these tests are passed before the transcript is degree dated/conferred as part of the program. Contact your college for details.
  • Proof you have applied to and will receive the NC Teaching License: Since the time frame to receive your actual NC Teaching License certificate can take a minimum of 45 days, we can move forward in hiring with a screenshot of your NC DPI application status page when it is at, “DPI-Pending Review”.

  • Once all documentation has been received and processed you will receive an email through the application approving your application for hire.
  • Make contact with schools you wish to be hired at; drop off resume’ at schools.
  • Additional Action Required: After you receive Email notification your NC Teaching License has been issued by DPI, you will also receive another Email from DPI with your Licensure Requirements Letter. Follow-up with CCS/HR Licensure Department by sending a copy of both documents to complete your hiring folder.

Applying to: Advertised Licensed  or Administrative Positions

  • Follow instructions on Job Vacancy Announcement
  • Apply to the position in NC Teacher Match
  • Submit all required documents to HR by the listed close date on Announcement- only by fax to 910.678.2344, mailing, or hand deliver to HR front desk by the due date. DO NOT EMAIL DOCUMENTS-WE WILL NOT ACCEPT FOR ADVERTISED POSITIONS.
  • The mailing address is Cumberland County Schools, Human Resources Department, Attn:  Advertised Job Vacancy Application, P.O. Box 2357, Fayetteville, North Carolina  28302.
  • Any documents received after the advertised close date/time will not be accepted.

Additional Information:

  • State Testing can refer to NTE, Praxis, Pearson or other state test(s)
  • Always use Google Chrome when accessing the application.  
  • Teacher Match and People Admin are the same application site from North Carolina. The State is in the process of changing the name to People Admin.
  • The best format for emailed documents (Excluding Advertised Vacancies) is PDF.
  • If you upload your transcripts or teaching licenses into the application, follow-up with an email to cynthiaringler@ccs.k12.nc.us so documents can be processed.
  • Jobs found on Teacher Match/Cumberland County may already be filled as the vacancy is not always taken off in a timely manner by the state. Contact the school or Department to ensure it’s still vacant.
  • Incomplete applications and documents will be maintained for 90 days after which all documentation will need to be resubmitted.
  • Our primary way of communicating is through the application email. This is the email you created with your application account. Some emails will go directly to your SPAM folders- check frequently when you are applying.
  • Please review each announcement to see if additional documents are required.
  • All submitted documents become the property of Cumberland County Schools.

Notice: When vacancies occur, interviews may be scheduled with selected applicants holding proper licensure, provided all required information has been received. Your completed application will be retained in active status for 2 years.

Final employment is contingent upon approval by the Cumberland County Board of Education.
