Application Instructions – Classified Positions

Classified Positions– positions that do not require an instructional or administrative license. Some examples:

  • Teacher Assistant / Support Assistant
  • Physical or Occupational Therapists
  • Office Support or Clerk
  • Maintenance and Custodial Staff
  • Bus Driver

Required Documents for Applying to Classified Positions – ADVERTISED

*Advertised positions are those jobs posted on our Human Resources website, under Employment Opportunities. Please view the Job Vacancy Announcement carefully to see if additional documents are required.  Additional Documents for “Advertised” jobs cannot be e-mailed. Either hand deliver to HR or Fax to 910.678.2344.


Custodial or Maintenance – ADVERTISED

  • Completed online application with NC TeacherMatch-Custodian Instructions
  • Application applied to advertised position
  • Letter of Interest, resume, and Background form to Human Resources (either fax or hand deliver by the job close date, as posted on the job vacancy announcement)
  • One year experience if specified on Job Vacancy Announcement
  • Must have valid NC Driving License

(OT) Occupational or (PT) Physical Therapists and Assistants (OTA/PTA) – ADVERTISED

  • Completed online application with NC TeacherMatch-OT/PT Instructions
  • Application applied to an advertised position
  • Letter of Interest, resume, and Background form to Human Resources (either fax or hand delivered by the job close date, as posted on the job vacancy announcement)
  • Transcripts showing completion of or graduation from accredited school of Physical or Occupational Therapy or accredited PTA/COTA program leading to North Carolina License
  • Copy of license to support Board of Examiners approval

Clerk or Office Support Positions-ADVERTISED

  • Completed online application with NC TeacherMatch-Clerk Instructions
  • Application applied to an advertised position
  • One year clerical experience if specified on Job Vacancy Announcement
  • Must submit proof of high school graduation/GED
  • Letter of Interest, resume, and Background form to Human Resources (either fax or hand delivered by the job close date, as posted on the job vacancy announcement).
  • Must hold a valid NC Driving License

*Non-Advertised means you complete the process for potential future jobs that will allow you to be considered for employment.

*Open Recruitment folders are used to apply to a job category when there is no current advertised job available. Application instructions here Instructions


Teacher Assistant / Support Assistant – Non-Advertised

*These documents can be scanned on a document scanner, uploaded as an attachment, and then e-mailed since there is no end date. Email to: cynthiaringler@ccs.k12.nc.us

  • Completed online application with NC TeacherMatch-Teacher Assistant Instructions
  • Application applied to Open Recruitment Folders or any Teacher Assistant job
  • Background form submitted to HR with valid NC Driving License
  • Official transcript showing completion of 2 years (minimum 48 semester or 72 quarter hours. Course number 100 and below are not counted).
  • You will receive an email when you are clear for hire. “Some messages go into the SPAM file instead of your email In Box. Check the SPAM folder regularly.”

Custodial / Maintenance and Clerk/Office Support – Non-Advertised

*These documents can be scanned on a document scanner, uploaded as an attachment, and then e-mailed since there is no end date. Email to: cynthiaringler@ccs.k12.nc.us

  • Completed online application with  NC TeacherMatch-Custodian Instructions
  • Application applied to Open Recruitment Folders or any classified job
  • (Clerk Applicants)Must submit proof of high school graduation/GED
  • Background form submitted to HR with valid NC Driving License
  • You will receive an email when you are clear for hire.

Application Issues: Password and Tech Support

  • If you forget the password to your application, don’t create a new profile. Just use the “Forgot Password” feature on the login page. An email will be sent to the email address connected to your application and provide a link where you can change your password.
  • If you are having technical difficulties you can contact Tech Support by clicking on the blue box running along the right side called, “Feedback & Support”.

Additional Information – IMPORTANT

  • NC TeacherMatch and People Admin are the same application database. The State is changing the name.
  • Incomplete applications and documents will be maintained for 90 days after which all documentation will need to be resubmitted.
  • All submitted documents become the property of Cumberland County Schools.
  • Please review the Job Vacancy Announcement for Advertised positions for any additional documents that may be required.
  • When vacancies occur, interviews may be scheduled with selected applicants holding the proper qualification, provided all required information has been received.  Your completed application will be retained in active status for one calendar year.

  • To email:  documents must be scanned on a document scanner (no pictures or Word Documents or Images) and uploaded as an attachment. The PDF format works best.
  • Transcripts can be e-mailed directly from College/University to: cynthiaringler@ccs.k12.nc.us
  • Emailing does not apply to an advertised position on our Employment Opportunities page (http://hr.ccs.k12.nc.us/employment-opportunities/)

Final employment is contingent upon approval by the Cumberland County Board of Education.
